Kiwi Point Quarry, Concrete Recycling and Controlled Fill
Wellington
Wellington's central supplier of quality aggregate
Kiwi Point Quarry is only a short drive from the Wellington CBD
We supply aggregate products to contractors and the public.
If you are a contractor, drainlayer, landscaper or have a general need for metal then you don’t need to drive 45 minutes out of the city just to pick up a load of aggregate. Because of our proximity to the city centre, we are often the smart choice for those wanting to pick up a smaller quantity of product which does not justify the long drive to larger quarries that are situated further afield (although we can supply large quantities!)
We offer a range of product including Gap 20, Gap 40 and Gap 65 as well as drainage metal, bedding sand and builder’s mix.
Kiwi Point is also disposal facility for clean dry concrete, wet concrete sludge, millings/asphalt, light and reinforcement materials, power poles and oversized structures.
Did you know that we recycle concrete?
As a recycling facility we take the clean concrete waste product from nearby concrete manufactures and crush that into the product we sell. This prevents un-used concrete from ending up in land fill. Our crushing units can crush rock and concrete down to dust which means we can offer a a wide range of products/grades.
Kiwi Point Controlled Fill
Kiwi Point Controlled Fill is a disposal site for cohesive soils. We can dispose clay, silts, sediments, loamy silts and sand and high weathered rock however we do not dispose of topsoil and organic matter at this site. Acceptance of material on site for disposal is at the absolute discretion of Leach Kiwi Point and the restrictions are based on WCC consent requirements therefore compliance with the acceptance criteria stipulated is pertinent. Access to the Controlled Fill will only be made available to account customers or linked to an existing supply agreement; we therefore recommend prior arrangements are made as casual drop off will not be accepted. Minimum delivery is by 3 tonne trucks and cars, vans, utes and trailers are not authorised to enter the Controlled Fill.
Pre-approval is required for volumes greater than 1,000 m3 requiring disposal. All material delivered to site must meet the Waste Acceptance Criteria which includes supplying documentation demonstrating the suitability of the material, which must include test results for contaminants from an IANZ accredited laboratory. Any materials originating from Hazardous Activities and Industries List (HAIL) site must include a copy of any Site Investigation report and test results. LKP will undertake random analytical testing of the incoming material; Test results indicating non-compliant material shall result in the customer being issued with a Removal Notice requiring the removal of the quarantined load from site within 2 working days. Additional testing may be undertaken to identify other potentially contaminated material originating from the same source. The customer will indemnify LKP for the cost it incurs of any removal and remediation works required.
The Controlled Fill is open Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 5.00 pm, Saturday 7.00 am to 12.00 pm and closed on Sunday and Public Holidays.
Please note: Our office will be closed from 2 PM on 20th December 2024, and we will return to our usual operating hours at 7 AM on 6th January 2025.
